Retail Week 2011 Awards

21/03/2011

The annual Retail Week Awards are always a high profile event as the cream of retail flock to see if they have won one of the star accolades.

But with both Sir Stuart Rose and Sir Terry Leahy presented with lifetime achievement awards last week the event scored higher on the prestige points than ever. And with Carphone Warehouse boss Charles Dunstone presenting Sir Rose with his award with the line that his favourite quote of Stuart’s was “I want to please every woman every time”, and Sir Leahy presented his award following an emotional and glowing tribute from Sir Ken Morrison the night showed how high profile the event is. Editor Tim Danaher will be gunning for a knighthood next.

But of course they weren’t the only winners. John Lewis scooped two awards – retailer of the year and advertising campaign of the year. Majestic Wine also cracked open the bubbly after winning both customer service initiative of the year and speciality retailer of the year.
