Mike Slade of development and investment company Helical Bar was last night awarded the title of Property Personality of the year at the 2011 Property Awards.

One of the most deserved awards of the night, Slade was given the accolade for his work as President of the property industry’s charity LandAid. And, while most of those shortlisted during the rest of the night were the usual posed suited and booted photographs it was refreshing to see Slade’s image was him in a superman outfit – a reminder that in October he managed to raise more than £100,000 for the charity in one day.

Although he wasn’t there to collect the award himself LandAid chairman Robin Broadhurst said he had been sent with a clear brief from Slade – to get three minutes of airtime for LandAid whilst also praising Slade with the line that he “is a man that doesn’t just write cheques but gets off his backside and does things.”

Of course the night wasn’t just about Slade and the full list of winners is below. Host and comedian Michael Macintyre had the audience tittering although for Candy & Candy, who came in for continued stick from the comedian, the joke may have worn a little thin by the end of the night. British Land chief executive Chris Grigg may also not be too amused this morning when he realises that he collected his award for Property Company of the Year whilst covered in what looked like red lipstick.

• The Sustainability Achievement Award – British Land – energy metering and management
• The Regeneration Award – Kings Cross Central – Kings Cross Central Limited Partnership
• The Residential Achievement Award – First Private rented sector fund – Berkeley Group and HCA
• Property Newcomer of the year – Metric Property
• Occupier of the year – KPMG
• Global Real Estate Achievement of the year – Brookfield
• Property Fund Manager of the year – Threadneedle Property Investments
• Developer of the year – Land Securities
• Deal of the year – Sale of 25% stake in Regent Street – The Crown Estate and Norges Bank Investment Management
• Property Company of the year – British Land
• Property Entrepreneur of the Year – Tony Pidgley – Berkeley Group
• Property Personality of the year – Mike Slade, LandAid
