MILLER DEVELOPMENTS SELLS SITE TO GLENMORANGIE FOR NEW MULTI-MILLION POUND OFFICE AND BOTTLING DEVELOPMENT

February 20, 2009

Miller Developments, Edinburgh, has agreed heads of terms with The Glenmorangie Company to sell an 11-acre site at its Alba Business Park in Livingston, West Lothian for new office and bottling facilities.

The acquisition of the site is conditional on obtaining planning consent from West Lothian Council and a planning application is being prepared for submission.

The new multi-million-pound office and bottling facility forms a key part of The Glenmorangie Company’s £45 million investment programme, which will see it focus on building its highly successful, premium single malt brands – Glenmorangie and Ardbeg.

The new bottling plant will provide the capacity for an increase in production of both single malts to meet the future demand for premium single malt whisky in growing markets such as Asia, Continental Europe and the USA.
It is expected that the majority of employees at The Glenmorangie Company’s existing facilities in Broxburn will relocate to the new purpose-built facility – just seven miles away – when construction is completed in summer 2010. The Glenmorangie Company continues its search for Edinburgh city centre premises for its new Headquarter offices.

Pamela Grant, Director of Miller Developments said: “We are delighted to attract such a high calibre occupier as Glenmorangie to Alba Business Park. It is already well established with occupiers such as Plexus, Quintiles, Scottish Water and the addition of Glenmorangie is fantastic news for us.”
The announcement follows on from the completion of the Alba Business Pavilions in November 2008. This architecturally striking development provides high quality office suites ranging from 1,720 sq ft to 27,795 sq ft which are available to purchase or to lease. Within 2 weeks of the development obtaining practical completion, it had secured its first letting to Compass Contract Services (UK) Limited.

Paul Neep, Chief Executive of The Glenmorangie Company, said: “We wanted to locate our new office and bottling plant close to Broxburn so we could retain our skilled workforce. The Alba Business Park in Livingston also meets our needs in terms of the high quality of its landscaping environment, local facilities and good transport links.”
In addition, the Company is also investing to increase the capacity of The Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain, Ross-shire.
