Contemporary clothing and accessories brand Cult will open its first UK flagship store in Wales at St David’s, the new shopping centre in the heart of Cardiff opening on October 22nd 2009.
Cult, which offers labels including Superdry, Paul’s Boutique and California Surf Company, is to open a 13,584 sq ft store, its largest shop to date. Cult will join other fashion stores including All Saints, Hugo Boss, Kurt Geiger, H&M, Quiksilver and John Lewis, with the department store’s second largest UK store and first in Wales. 64% of the total floor space in St David’s has been let or is in solicitor’s hands.
Joanne Skilton, of Capital Shopping Centres (CSC), said, on behalf of St David’s Partnership, the joint venture between CSC and Land Securities: “Cult is a great brand and they could have chosen any number of locations for their flagship store. Cult reinforces the fashion credibility and tenant mix of St David’s, which, with eleven weeks to go, promises to deliver the range of stores and retailers that we and the shoppers anticipated.”
The 967,500 sq ft (89,880 sq m) St David’s, will join with the existing 427,000 sq ft (39,670 sq m) shopping Centre, to provide 1.4 million sq ft (129,135 sq m) of retail space in the heart of Cardiff. The European capital receives 27 million shoppers and 10 million tourists each year, and St David’s will promote Cardiff into the UK’s top ten retail destinations.
Julian Dunkerton, Partner of Cult, said: “We are very excited to be opening in Wales’ capital city with our largest store to date.”
Letting agents for St David’s are E J Hales, Lunson Mitchenall and Cushman & Wakefield. Jones Lang LaSalle acted for Cult.
