One of the world’s most in-demand fashion labels, Abercrombie & Fitch, will open a Hollister Co at St David’s, the new shopping centre in the heart of Cardiff. Hollister, the epitome of Southern Californian effortless chic, will join other style icons such as Hugo Boss, LK Bennett and Cult, which have established St David’s as the ultimate destination for Wales’ fashion conscious shoppers.
Hollister’s 9,166 sq ft St David’s store, will provide Cardiff’s shoppers with their first opportunity to get hold of this iconic SoCal brand. Other retailers opening their first stores in Wales at St David’s include L’Occitane, Radley, Links of London and the UK’s second largest John Lewis, which has traded well above target since its 24th September opening.
Caroline Kirby, of Capital Shopping Centres (CSC), on behalf of St David’s Partnership, the joint venture between CSC and Land Securities, said: “I am delighted that Hollister has chosen St David’s as its Wales debut. Hollister is a globally recognised brand which will have massive appeal with Wales’ young modern shopper. Hollister cements St David’s position as Wales’ up-to-minute shopping location; this will be reinforced as more great names open in the run up to Christmas.
St David’s will extend the existing shopping centre to provide 1.4 million sq ft (129,135 sq m) of shopping space in the heart of Cardiff. St David’s opened on 22 October with more than 50 new stores, some 25 of those making their Welsh debut. More than 30 further stores will be opening in the lead up to Christmas followed by more retailers in early 2010.
The quality of St David’s offer and Cardiff’s catchment of 27 million shoppers and 10 million tourists each year has attracted many retailers new to Wales such as Kurt Geiger, All Saints, Ollie & Nic, Crabtree & Evelyn and Lambretta. Other retailers, such as H&M, will open a second store in the Welsh capital to enable them to stock a full product range for the first time.
