Redevco Netherlands has purchased a 1,300 m² retail property on Gouda’s main shopping street, Kleiweg 24-30. The property is let to Blokker and WE on long-term leases. Redevco already owns the adjacent properties at Kleiweg 32-48. This latest acquisition provides Redevco with an entire block of prime retail real estate covering a total of 7,000 m².
Redevco recently started redeveloping its existing properties on the Kleiweg. The redevelopment includes integrating a shopping passage, which at this moment no longer functions satisfactorily, and will be turned into retail space. The façades on the Kleiweg will be completely renovated, in a style appropriate to the street’s architectural tradition. The architect is Soeters van Eldonk Architects of Amsterdam. The project is scheduled for completion this autumn.
The current tenants C&A, WE, Blokker and V&D will continue to occupy their retail units, albeit the individual units will be optimized by the redevelopment. A new store is let to The Sting who will be a major anchor in Gouda’s main shopping street.
The project will be certified according to BREEAM-NL standards: we aim to achieve a BREAAM “Very Good” certificate. The Dutch Council of Shopping Centres (NRW) has designated the project a “sustainable building” pilot.
The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
