St David’s, the market leading shopping centre jointly owned by Capital Shopping Centres (CSC) and Land Securities, has secured two more firsts for Wales with new food offers from Cosy Club and Toby Carvery. The new deals further expand the market leading centre’s catering offer.
Cosy Club, which offers informal casual dining and lounging in a quirky and family friendly environment, is to open its largest restaurant to date and its first in Wales, at St David’s in the autumn. It will be the fifth Cosy Club restaurant for its parent company Loungers – which also owns and operates The Lounge café/bar concept.
The new St David’s Cosy Club will be 7,339 sq ft in size and will be located on the ground floor of Hills St, which is just off the middle of The Hayes, adjacent to Hugo Boss.
As well as the Cosy Club deal St David’s has also signed Toby Carvery who will expand St David’s extensive grab and go offer with the opening of the second of its Toby Roast Sandwich Express formats in the UK. It follows the launch of the concept last December. The new format offers hot takeaway roast carvery sandwiches and has been launched by the company to further extend its brand into the retail market and transport hubs.
The 1,087 sq ft unit will sit opposite Ed’s Diner which opened its first restaurant in Wales at St David’s last year, and Pret a Manger.
Joanne Skilton, Retail and Leasing Director at CSC, on behalf of the St David’s Partnership, said: “Cosy Club and Toby Roast Sandwich Express are further exciting additions to a mouth-watering line-up of catering brands that already includes Jamie’s, Red Hot World Buffet and Ed’s Easy Diner. The catering mix is as important to us as our retail mix as customers continue to look for a complete retail and leisure experience when they shop.”
Alex Reilley, managing director of Loungers, said: “We’ve been hugely impressed with the success of St David’s and when the opportunity arose to take a unit in the scheme we jumped at it. We have enjoyed considerable success in the suburbs of Cardiff with the Lounge concept and we see Cardiff as a great city for the Cosy Club. The St David’s Cosy Club will be our largest and most high profile opening to date and we can’t wait to get started”.
Anabel Newman, Development Manager for Toby Roast Sandwich Express, said: “We are looking for sites to fit our new grab and go concept. St David’s is a great location and we are looking forward to opening our new Toby Roast Sandwich Express in early August.”
St David’s Partnership was advised by EJ Hales. Insight Retail represented Cosy Club. For the Toby Roast Sandwich Express deal both parties acted for themselves.
