The Glades Boosts Aspirational Tenant Mix

October 3, 2012

Capital Shopping Centres (CSC) has announced a number of high profile lettings at its Bromley shopping centre The Glades, as it continues to build on the aspirational tenant mix within the centre to meet the demands of its wealthy catchment.

High end fashion retailer Phase Eight has upsized into a new store more than treble the size of its previous unit with a 1,677 sq ft store next to TM Lewin and opposite Coast, Karen Millen and Kurt Geiger. The retailer, which celebrates 15 years in The Glades next month, had been consistently overtrading in the scheme.

Branded footwear specialist Sole Trader will open in the vicinity of another new iconic addition to the centre in a unit opposite Hennes and Mango. In keeping with the tenant mix policy to attract fashion focused, on trend brands into the centre, Sole Trader has taken a 2,017 sq ft store.

Jonathan Ainsley, Asset Management Director for CSC, said: “These new lettings really demonstrate how well The Glades is performing; representing the attraction of the centre for new retailers and the successful trading of existing retailers. These lettings form part of our vision to make The Glades a one stop shopping destination which perfectly meets the needs of the affluent catchment it serves with an offer that comprises quality and choice. The Glades has a particularly strong demographic which will be well served by these high-end brands.”

Hilary Kavanagh, Head Of Retail – South for Phase Eight, said: “We had a very strong opening and have had a very positive response from customers who love the extended range we are now able to show them in the larger store. We are very pleased with the initial results and are now really looking forward to the rest of our new Autumn/Winter product touching down and a strong Christmas”.

The centre is the third largest shopping destination in Greater London according to National Survey of Local Shopping Patterns, by number of shoppers in the non-grocery catchment. Attracting an annual footfall of 17 million and with 70% of customers in the Most Affluent Acorn categories, it is an obvious destination for leading retailers.

CSC and London Borough of Bromley and Aviva were represented by Bruce Gillingham Pollard and Cushman and Wakefield. Phase Eight was represented by Leslie Perkins.
