Fashion and lifestyle retailer Urban Outfitters has signed up for its thirty-eighth European store opening at the Victoria Centre in Nottingham.
The new 14,500 sqft store will be located in a prime corner unit at the entrance to the Victoria Centre,which attracts 23 million shopper visits a year.
Thiswill be Urban Outfitters first venture into the East Midlands region. The new store will be handed over later this year and is due to open in time for Christmas.
The signing comes hot on the heels of intu’s recent announcement that it is progressing plans to invest £35m in the Victoria Centre.
Martin Breeden, asset management director at intu, said: “We’re delighted to have Urban Outfitters at the entrance to the Victoria Centre. We’ve got great stores, 23 million shoppers and coming on top of our comprehensive refurbishment plans, the Victoria Centre is making excellent progress. This deal is great for our shoppers and really enhances the young urban fashion mix within Nottingham.”
Urban Outfitters said: “We’ve been negotiating to open in Nottingham for some time and this prime position within the Victoria Centre is significant for us. Nottingham has a great catchment of over 1.4 million and we know there is a high level of demand for our products, so we hope to be trading very soon.”
Intu recently appointed Jones Lang La Salle and FHP to work on both the Victoria Centre and Broadmarsh, ensuring a whole city approach to lettings and the introduction of a complementary retail mix across the two centres.
