Award winning sculptor Allison Armourrevealed her latest artwork at Frimley4 Business Park in Surreytoday (25 March). The new sculpture, which is part of Investream’s extensive multi-million poundredevelopment and landscaping plans for the 5.4 ha (13.4 acre) park, is a 5m diameter ‘Moongate’ in polished, marine grey stainless steel.
Allison Armour comments, “A Moongate is a traditional architectural element in Chinese gardens and is usually a circular opening that pedestrians can pass through. The Frimley4Moongate is no exception and we really hope that the Park’s tenants and visitors will walk through it, clang it and sit in it. It is designed to be truly interactive.”
Natasha Smyth from Investream comments, “Frimley4 Business Park is undergoing significant re-masterplanning and landscaping. We are enhancing the amenity space and creating interesting vistas, which can be enjoyed from both inside and outside the Park. Alison’s Moongate sculpture will be lit up at night andcreates a real focal point and sense of arrival at the entrance to Frimley Business Park.”
Acting on behalf of the Mayor of Surrey Heath, CouncillorSams, Ward Member for Frimley and a past Mayor said, “This sculpture along with the other improvements will benefit those currently using the business park and encourage new businesses to move here. I am looking forward to seeing Allison Armour’s sculpture in this auspicious setting.”
After acquiring Frimley4 Business Park in 2011, Investream appointed Landscape Perspective Limited to enhance the central amenity space at the heart of the scheme, visible from the main access road, and adjacent to the River Blackwater.
Investream has added further lighting with contemporary coloured light stacks and planted large, semi-mature Hornbeam trees. The combination of hard and soft landscaping, attractive seating, lighting and sculpture, enhance the views to the river. The newly planted river edge will be managed to ensure that it provides a valuable habitat for wildlife and bulb planting will add seasonal colour and interest. The riverside walk has beenremodelled and re-surfaced.
Existing tenants at the Park include Novartis, Genesys, Vysionics and Lanode.
