Highcross Lets 25,390 Sq Ft To Capgemini In Leeds

June 25, 2013

Highcross has let 25,390 sq ft office space at Broad Gate Leeds to Capgemini, one of the world’s foremost providers of consulting, technology, and outsourcing services.

The new Leeds office will provide a flagship base for Capgemini’s financial services division in the north of England, reflecting the city’s position as the UK’s second largest centre for the financial services sector.

Highcross has let the fifth floor office space to Capgemini on a 10 year lease. Following this latest letting, the 300,000 sq ft mixed use city centre building will be 90% occupied.

Nick Large, Head of UK HR for Capgemini’s Financial Services Global Business Unit said Broad Gate was selected for its sustainability, location and flexibility: “Broad Gate has been redeveloped to a high standard in terms of its environmental performance and quality of space and the large floor plates provided the flexibility to fit-out the offices to our exact requirements. The location within easy walking distance of the train station, as well as shops, cafes and restaurants is also very convenient for our employees.”

Capgemini will have capacity for around 300 staff at Broad Gate, around 160 moving from its current smaller office space in Leeds and other locations in the north-east, to meet growing demand for its services from businesses in the city and along the M62 corridor.

Highcross Associate Director, Iain Taylor adds: “We have now let more than 100,000 sq ft at Broad Gate in the last month, leaving just 28,000 sq ft of office space available. Capgemini’s decision to locate a major regional office at Broad Gate is great news and reflects the building’s excellent location, with city centre facilities right on the doorstep, and high quality, flexible office space.”

Eamon Fox, Director at DTZ who acted for Highcross commented: “The letting to Capgemini adds to an already impressive occupier line up within the building. Broad Gate is locationally and quality dominant in the Leeds business space market, evident by the fact we are now at 90% capacity and we take a lot of comfort from interest in the remaining 28,000 sq. ft of offices within the building.”

Located on the Headrow in Leeds city centre, Broad Gate provides 170,000 sq ft Grade A office space and 122,000 sq ft prime retail. Companies based at the award-winning building include Activision, Environ, Colliers International and, most recently, Yorkshire Building Society, which has announced it will be taking 76,413 sq ft at Broad Gate.

Agents for Highcross at Broad Gate are DTZ, CBRE and Colliers. White Druce Brown acted for Capgemini.
