Cathedral Plaza To Benefit From Multimillion Pound Investment

March 4, 2014

Salmon Harvester Opportunity Fund, the owner of Cathedral Plaza, Worcester is proposing a multimillion pound investment to regenerate the centre and improve its offer for tenants, shoppers and the City as whole, generating up to 100 jobs.

A series of seven new restaurants will overlook a new public square in front of the Cathedral. The scheme also includes remodelled shop units designed to attract new retailers to the City as well as a new gym.

Key to the remodelling will be the reconfiguration and regeneration of existing retail space to create leisure and retail accommodation which meets the needs of modern retailers and restaurant businesses.

The owners plan to attract quality restaurant and retail businesses, including national names new to the city and local businesses with aspirations to be part of the new look centre.

In addition to the works to the centre itself, the scheme provides an opportunity to create a new public square where the roundabout between Deansgate and College Street currently sits; the Fund is working with both Worcester City Council and Worcestershire County Council to achieve this.

Nick Webb of Salmon Harvester Opportunity Fund commented: “Our proposals for Cathedral Plaza present a fantastic opportunity to regenerate a currently unloved part of the City to provide a new leisure offer and introduce a major new public space in front of the Cathedral.  We’re working closely with the Council and other stakeholders to ensure we can create the best scheme possible for the City.”

The aim is to submit a planning application later in 2014 and the Fund will be undertaking public consultation to allow members of the public to review the emerging proposals and provide comments in due course.
