Helios Real Estate and Northumberland Estates have been granted planning permission by Stockton Borough Council for a new 2 million sq ft multi-level logistics building to be developed as part of the wider Wynyard Park scheme in the Tees Valley, north east England
Enabling works have already started and the building is due to be completed in July 2022 creating 1,300 jobs. Wynyard Park was established fifteen years ago by Trevor Cartner and Chris Musgrave and has become a major economic driver in the Tees Valley with around 4000 jobs and 3.5m square feet of space developed. Northumberland Estates acquired a 50% stake in the business park five years ago.
Helios Chairman Trevor Cartner said: “Wynyard Park has become a major destination for international and local businesses and this new logistics project will bring further investment into the region.
“This latest development has been made possible by the help of the Mayor Ben Houchen whose office has contributed to offsite highways work to cope with the additional traffic generated. To see our original ideas and masterplan come to fruition is fantastic and is a credit to our joint venture with Northumberland Estates, our team on site and to the two local authorities, Stockton and Hartlepool, who continue to support us. We look forward to many more years of growth and to creating the new Wynyard Garden Village with thousands of new homes on the adjoining sites.”
Anthony Cape of Northumberland Estates added:“We made a significant investment five years ago because we could see the potential to grow the business with the Wynyard Park team. This building demonstrates that the decision was a very good one and we are delighted to be part of the Wynyard success story.”
Wynyard Park is a mixed use site with potential to create a further 100,000 square metres of commercial space and up to 5000 new homes.
