The owners of Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre in Kent have completed the refurbishment of the scheme’s East Mall entrance and signed a deal with JD Gyms.
The new-look entrance is designed to improve the visibility and appearance of the popular shopping centre in the south-east of the Medway towns conurbation and is anchored by Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer.
JD Gyms, part of JD Sports, has taken 20,000 sq ft of space in total, including a 6,500 sq ft mezzanine, on a new 15-year lease at a rent of £130,000 a year. The gym operator has begun fitting out and is due to open this Summer.
GCW and Savills are joint letting agents while Proactive Leisure advised JD Gyms.
Phil Fishwick, associate director of GCW said: “Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre has a strong and loyal catchment and the owners’ decision to refurbish the East Mall entrance is starting to reap dividends.”
Existing occupiers The Works, Hempstead Therapy Centre and Bakers & Baristas have taken larger stores while Burger King has taken a pre-let on a drive-thru restaurant.
