Footasylum will open a 6,697 sq ft store in the centre’s Town Wall south area, the Barratt’s store will be 3,025 sq ft and Deichmann, the family-owned German shoe retailer, will open its first Cardiff store of 8,080 sq ft.
The retailers will join other leading footwear brands at St David’s including LK Bennett, Sole Trader and Kurt Geiger.
Joanne Skilton, of Capital Shopping Centres (CSC), on behalf of St David’s Partnership, the joint venture between CSC and Land Securities, said: “We are delighted with the interest shown by these footwear retailers , especially in the Town Wall south area where we are expanding our fashion mix. The fashion offer is enhanced by great shoe retailing and our customers are definitely voting with their feet!”
Clare Makin, Estates Manager for Footasylum said: “Taking a store at St David’s was an obvious step for us as our first store in Wales needed to be in the best possible location. We are considering several new locations for 2010 to increase our portfolio of 20 stores, and St David’s was a priority. St David’s provides a great fashion offering, and we are excited to bring the Footasylum concept to Cardiff in early August.”
Deichmann property manager, Robert Field, said: “We have been most impressed with St David’s and retailer feedback has been extremely positive. We choose our sites very carefully and we are confident that St David’s will be one of our top five UK stores.”
E J Hales, Lunson Mitchenall and Cushman & Wakefield are the letting agents for St David’s. Cushman & Wakefield represented Deichmann; Foot Asylum was represented by Lawson Hubbard Lowe and Barratts was self represented.
