High end multi-brand fashion retailer Choice is to upsize into a major new flagship fashion store at Capital Shopping Centres’ Lakeside, as the leading shopping centre owner continues to strengthen its fashion offer on Brompton Walk. The new store will be a new anchor for Brompton Walk.
The retailer will open a 7,841 sq ft megastore in the centre, which is this year celebrating its 21st birthday, in August. Choice has had a store within Lakeside for more than 20 years.
The new unit is an amalgamation of five existing units on Brompton Walk and will replace separate mens and womens stores which Choice currently occupies at units 504 and 517 with a combined space of 4,062 sq ft. The new unit will see the retailer take units 502-509 almost doubling its space to 7,841 sq ft. The store will have a high impact lineal frontage in excess of 40 metres.
Jonathan Ainsley, director of asset management (south) at CSC London said: “Choice has a long history at Lakeside and has an iconic and celebrity following so it seems fitting that as Lakeside comes of age then so can Choice with a major new flagship. This new letting is a substantial investment for Choice and is therefore indicative of their confidence in Lakeside. We are looking to achieve further lettings on Brompton Walk to further enhance the specialised fashion mix there.”
Laurence Davis, principal of Choice, said. “We have been within Lakeside for more than 20 years and this will be the fourth time we have upsized our store. It’s a great centre that has stood the test of time and was the first shopping centre store we took. I’m very pleased with how we have performed over the last 20 years in Lakeside. The new unit will allow us to increase our offer and do something bigger and better than we have ever done before and offer something special to our customers.”

The amalgamation of units has also seen another of the centre’s original tenants relocate within Brompton Walk. Bridal boutique Confetti & Lace opened a new flagship store within at Lakeside at the beginning of June.
