BABCOCK EXPANDS AT LAKESIDE NORTH HARBOUR PORTSMOUTH

November 30, 2016

FTSE 100 company, Babcock International Group (Babcock), the UK’s leading engineering support services organisation, is expanding its presence at 1000 Lakeside North Harbour Portsmouth, taking 55,000 sq ft on the first floor of this landmark location.

Around 400-450 staff will be relocating initially; including Babcock’s Information Services department (the IT department), with capacity to grow to over 700 personnel.

Operating in the UK and overseas, Babcock delivers complex and critical support to the defence, energy, emergency services, transport and education sectors. The company prides itself on long-term customer focused relationships and engineering excellence.

Today, Babcock employs over 35,000 skilled people worldwide who design, build, manage, operate, maintain and decommission infrastructure and assets that are vital to both public and private sector customers.

Simon Parker, Chief Information Officer, of Babcock’s Information Services department, said: “Having outgrown our existing office space, we were looking for a new local base. Lakeside has great access and amenities, and allows us room for future growth. With other Babcock teams already based at Lakeside it made sense for us all to consolidate and move into a single floor of Lakeside 1000.”

Nick Turner, Director, Asset Management Northwood said: “Babcock is a world leader, so we are justly proud that they have chosen 1000 Lakeside. Our location and quality of offer provides a great environment for their personnel and we are very much looking forward to welcoming them on site.”

Andrew Hodgkinson, Director , Office Agency for Lambert Smith Hampton said: “Babcock have been a valued client of LSH for a decade. We were tasked with identifying a location for a South Coast operational hub, across a wide geography and unearthed a number of viable opportunities. Lakeside delivered on a number of levels and we are pleased to have negotiated a successful outcome for our client.”
