Harper Dennis Hobbs Secures West End Site For Swingers

October 27, 2017

Harper Dennis Hobbs has completed a letting deal for crazy golf concept Swingers for its second venue inside the former BHS store on London’s Oxford Street.

A 20,000 sq ft venue, on the site of the old BHS café, will be opened by Swingers as a reconstruction of the 1920s English Riviera. Change of use and a  new premises licence was obtained for the former retail space.

Guests will be able to access Swingers through a seaside souvenir shop on John Prince’s Street, just off  Oxford Street.

Inside, caddies will serve cocktails to guests as they navigate the two 9-hole courses on the site – the Big Wheel course and the Helter Skelter course.

Two seaside-themed bars, the Bandstand Bar and Grand Hotel bar will also serve cocktails and a ‘promenade’ lined with lampposts and beach huts will house street food stalls between the two courses.

Swingers’ started as a pop-up in Shoreditch and opened its first permanent venue underneath the Gherkin in the City last year.

The interior of its City venue is reminiscent of a traditional country golf course with a two-storey clubhouse surrounded by lush foliage, trees and rolling courses.

Swingers co-founder and MD Matt Grech-Smith said: “When we first combined crazy golf with cocktails and street food at our pop-up back in 2014, because it had never been done before, we had no idea how enthusiastically our concept would be received. Fast forward three years and Swingers City has been off the chart and has truly put the crazy in crazy golf – we can’t wait to do it all over again, breathing new life into an iconic location in the West End”.
