Home Bargains has signed for a 20,000 sq ft ground-floor store at Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre in Gillingham, Kent.
The value-led retailer has agreed a 15-year lease and will officially open in November.
The unit, previously occupied by BHS, has been extensively refurbished as part of a multimillion-pound investment programme by the landlord into Hempstead Valley. The South Mall entrance has been significantly enhanced, incorporating striking new signage featuring koi carp imagery—a homage to the centre’s original 1980s water feature—and reinforcing the heritage linked to the historic ‘Savacentre’ identity cherished by the local catchment.
Phil Fishwick of letting agent GCW said: “Home Bargains’ arrival underpins our commitment to creating a vibrant destination for shoppers and tenant partners alike, further galvanising Hempstead Valley’s status within the regional retail hierarchy.”
Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre comprises 425,000 sq ft of retail and hospitality space with 2,160 car parking spaces. Major occupiers include Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer, TK Maxx, JD Sports, New Look, Boots and Superdrug.
